You know you need this right?
Cast your mind back to the glory days of the radio session, John Peel mainly springs to mind.
I was lucky enough to do 5 Peel sessions. Each of them showcased the band playing live, warts and all.
In todays world, the warts have all been airbrushed and the mistakes and idiosyncrasies that make music feel alive, all but straightened out.
The computer is now firmly established as the main tool and King when it comes to recording, and the computer gives you options, millions of them, something a live session at Maida Vale would not.
But that was the beauty and Radio Bremen is all about trying to recreate that live feeling.
Session #23 is alive and kicking. It rocks and grooves and bolts through the stable door like a Stallion looking for a cause, it's imperfections are it's strength and its moments of chaos are its order.
Recorded at Rockfield Studios through the beautiful Neve Desk in some of the worlds best sounding rooms, this record is class A in sound reproduction.
Charlie is a phenomenal drummer and the session was recorded by Thighpaulsandra who is currently in Hawkwind and previously played in Spiritualized and Julian Cope and is the last surviving member of the legendary band Coil. He also couldn't help himself when it came to modulating the Moog and coaxing otherworldly FM synthesis sounds out of it.
Where were you when we were doing our Peel sessions when we added a hair-raising 10 minute Krautrock ending onto 'Overnight Success', just to see if Peel would play it (which he did).
Let Radio Bremen #23 take you back to that place of unadulterated imperfection and off the cuff musicianship in the style of Can, Neu! and Amon Düll.
